[ It's a week after high school graduation and Umi, Fuu and Hikaru have come to Cephrio for an extended vacation. It's been a while since their last visit so everyone's more excited than usual about the return.

After being greeted by Clef and Presea the girls quickly depart for different destinations. Hikaru seeks out Lantis who, perhaps unsurprisingly is in the garden that secretly Hikaru has come to think of as theirs.

She settles in easily as if she had never been gone. That always seems to be the case with Lantis. His quiet heartfelt manner is so welcoming to her that reunions are never awkward. She fills him in on how her graduation ceremony went, how her brothers and Hikari are doing. For his part Lantis listens, his attention completely on her, another thing she appreciates about him.

She smiles at him and absently runs a hand through the grass. She's a bit older now, and more aware of her feelings. Feelings for Lantis and...well, that is where her newfound maturity gets complicated. Blushing slightly she glances away. ]

So Clef told us that everyone from Autozam, Fahren, and Chizeta will be visiting. That will be so much fun!

[The land of Cephiro was beautiful and full of life, just like back in the old days. Not a single sign of the tragedies that occurred just a few years ago was in sight, just as if the threat to the very existence of Cephiro and her people was just a bad dream, one they have all long awoken from.

But Lantis knew very well that the reason it could be like that, beautiful and peaceful was thanks to everyone’s efforts. He played his part, Clef played his part, Eagle played his part and the Magic Knights played their parts. They saved Cephiro, together.

The Magic Knights were visiting Cephiro. Talking to the Magic Knight of Fire about mundane things is something he’s always welcomed, Hikaru’s cheerful, outgoing attitude contrasting with his own quiet demeanor. It was nice to spend time together like this, just being comfortable with each other.

And yet, even though it’s as it has always been, Lantis cannot help but notice how she changed since the last time they have seen each other. Hikaru, the girl who saved Cephiro was a young woman now, both in appearance and behavior. As for what it means for their friendship... He will have to figure it out.]

Certainly. It has been a long time since we last had a meeting like this... [He pauses for a moment] At least the circumstances of the reunion are slightly better this time.

[ Hikaru smiles, her whole face lighting up. She's aglow with the joy she feels at being back in Cephiro and being surrounded by the people she's come to love and care fore.

The only blight on her cheerful disposition is the confusion that's cropped up in her heart over her feelings for both Lantis and Eagle. Now that she's matured somewhat she blushes to think of the conversation she'd had with Lantis some time ago about love and marriage. How easily she had said she loved him and Eagle. But she had conflated that love with the love she has for all of her friends and family. Now though, she knows that the feelings she has for the two men are quite different.

But was it possible to love more than one person like that at the same time? Because that is what her heart is truly telling her. If only there was some kind of guide for these sort of decisions. ]

Have you and Eagle been able to talk since he recovered?

[Lantis has frequently visited Eagle’s room during the other man’s sleep. While Hikaru’s visits brought cheerful conversations and enthusiastic descriptions of the girls’ life in their world, much needed joy in Eagle’s recovery time, Lantis would bring him calmness instead. He would sit by his bed in undisturbed silence, just being there. Reading a book, sometimes fluffing Eagle’s pillow. Day by day he observed life slowly coming back to the body of his best friend.]

Not much. He might be awake now but he still needs to regain his full strength. I do not want to tire him out.

[Eagle can take care of himself and Lantis knows that. But for some reason, after all this time Lantis cannot help but see the Autozam representative as someone who needs his protection.

Just like Hikaru. She also can protect herself and yet, the feeling was there in his heart]

Have you met with him already?

[ Hikaru shakes her head. ]

No. I came right here after we arrived.

[ Truth be told, she hadn't been sure where to visit first. Her heart wants to see Lantis and Eagle in equal parts that it's too difficult to decide plainly. It's only the fact that Hikaru is more familiar with where the garden is that she had managed to make a choice at all. ]

It will be my first time seeing him awake again. [ Her cheeks flush at the thought of coming face to face with Eagle, with seeing those clear eyes of his no longer filled with sadness. ]

I'm not sure if I'll know what to say.

[What is she worried about? Of all the people Lantis knew (or maybe it should be: of all the people he allowed close) Hikaru was the one Lantis would have the most trouble imagining in a situation she could not handle. This girl was a natural. She loved people and people loved her back. Including Lantis. No wonder she was chosen to be the Pillar of Cephiro, as flawed as the system was. But she knows that, does she not?]

I have no doubt it will go well. He is also excited to see you.

[After a short pause, he speaks once again]

And so am I, obviously.

[ Hikaru smiles. The thought of both Eagle and Lantis being excited to see her makes the butterflies in her stomach swarm about. If only she knew what to do to make them settle! ]

I'm excited to see you, too. And Eagle.

[ She looks down at her lap and idly flicks away imaginary dust from her skirt. ]

It's just that...you've known Eagle for much longer than I have. Everything Eagle and I know about each other is from the middle of battle and confusion. What if things are too different now?

Hikaru...

[Lantis wants to tell her that it will be all fine. Fear not, the immense strength of your heart is on your side. Hikaru, he wants to see you as much as you want to see him, without any doubt as much as Lantis himself wanted to see you. Precisely because Lantis has known Eagle for so long he is now able to see the parallels between how they feel...

Lantis is not as skilled with putting his thoughts and feelings into proper words as he is with sword and magic.]

Have some trust in yourself. And in Eagle.

[And in me, he wants to add. He takes a step towards the fiery haired girl and places a hand on her shoulder. A simple gesture of reassurance, maybe. But hopefully his actions will speak louder than words]
